Elphinstone Cricket Club (ECC) cruised into the pre-quarter-finals defeating Bombay Gymkhana ‘B’ 3-0 in a round of 32 match of the Billiards & Snooker Association of Maharashtra organised Greatwhite Electricals-BSAM Mumbai Snooker League 2022 and played at the Dadar Club billiards room.

Khar Gymkhana ‘C’ team also enjoyed smooth sailing brushing aside Garware Club House (GCH) ‘C’ outfit 3-0 to advance to the round of 16.

Former champions ECC ‘Elfies Stars’ started on a bright note with seasoned campaigner Anurag Bagri (+25 handicap) prevailing over Bombay Gymkhana’s Shabaz Khan (+10) 70-43. Later, the ECC combination of Vilas Upsham and Sunil Jain (+18) outshone the Bombay Gym pair of Kaizad Fitter and Abhishek Bajaj (+17) winning the double frame 62-19 to take a 2-0 lead. Later, Shubham Randhe (+40) overcame Vishwajeet Mohan (+15) 86-43 to seal ECC’s victory.

Khar Gymkhana was provided a flying start when Nikhil Saigal (+25) managed to snatch a close 105-98 win against Darshak Jhaveri (+45) in the opening frame. In the second frame, Harmehr Mago and Deepak Khubchandani (+17) combined perfectly to tame the Garware Club duo of Anish Jhaveri and Pramod Shah (+32) coasting to 76-33 win before Sahil Kakkad (+40) completed the win defeating Varun Mody (+45) 117-74 in the third frame.

However, there was plenty to cheer for Garware Club House (GCH) as the other two teams tasted success. GCH ‘A’ team held their nerves to scrape past former champions Cricket Club of India ‘A’ (CCI ‘Snooker Kings’) 3-2 and the GCH ‘B’ team got the better of P.J. Hindu Gymkhana ‘B’ 3-1.

Meanwhile, P.J. Hindu Gymkhana ‘A’ team after losing the first frame recovered by winning the next three frames to carve out a deserving 3-1 victory against a spirited Park Club and to book their place in the pre-quarters.
