Kamal Chawla (-200 handicap) of Railways and Hasan Badami (-185 handicap) of Cricket Club of India made light of their high handicaps and quite comfortably won their respective second round matches.
The tall lanky Railway cueist Chawla with some steady play warmed up for the sterner test ahead as he sidelined Dadar Club’s Luv Boricha (-60) coasting to a fluent 200-162 points victory in the race-to-200 points second round match of the Bombay Gymkhana Handicap Billiards Tournament, and played at the Bombay Gymkhana billiards hall.
Badami was also in complete control against Murali A. Krishnan (-25) of Chembur Gymkhana. The CCI player grabbed every chance to make small but decent breaks as he went on to wipe out his handicap and then gradually seized the lead before closing out the match, winning by a 200-165 points margin.
Meanwhile, K. Vijay Kumar (-120) joined his Railways teammate Chawla in the third round. Kumar staved off a spirited challenge from Sanchit Gemavat (-60) of Mandpeshwar Civic Foundation and managed to snatch close 200-186 win in another second round clash.
In another second round encounter, Yash Rungta (-100) of KVSC continued with his fine winning run and breezed past Islam Gymkhana’s Juzer Master (-30) 200-137.
