Easy win for Karnatak SA


Karnatak Sporting Association (KSA) struck good form to record an authoritative 5-1 win against Maharashtra State Police in a one-sided Elite Division match of the MDFA League 2017-2018 and played at the Mumbai Football Arena, Andheri. KSA enjoyed a slender 1-0 advantage at the end of the first half.

 

Striker Tushar Poojary scored KSA’s first two goals in the 28th and 52nd minutes, while Roger Sam got the third in the 55th minute. The Policemen cut the lead with Akshay Shinde finding the net in the 73rd minute. But the determined Karnatak outfit managed to add two more goals through Johnson D’Silva in the 80th minute and through a brilliant effort from Shabbir Shaikh in the 88th minute to complete the margin of victory.

 

Earlier in another match of the same division, ONGC and Western Railway shared the spoils as they were engaged in a 1-1 draw. Parminder Singh scored for ONGC in the fifth minute before Surinder Singh scored Western’s equalizer in the 89th minute.

 

Results – Elite Div: Karnatak Sporting Association 5 (Tushar Poojary 28th, 52nd, Roger Sam 55th, Johnson D’Silva 80th, Shabbir Shaikh 88th) beat Maharashtra State Police 1 (Akshay Shinde 73rd).

 

ONGC 1 (Parminder Singh 5th) drew with Western Railway 1 (Surinder Singh 89th).
