Durgesh Patil, of Nashik, put up a fine allround display while scoring a 15-13, 5-15, 15-8 win over Raigad’s Ashley Varghese in the second round of the boys under-13 singles of the 2nd Maharshtra State Dr Vijay Patil Sub-Junior Badminton Selection Tournament, hosted by BOR (Badminton Organisation Of Raigad) at DY Patil Sports Academy at Nerul here today. After neck to neck tussle in the first game, Durgesh just managed to go up 1-0, but the Nashik boys fought with all his might in the second and outclassed Durgesh to take the tie to the wire. But a breather helped Durgesh thereafter ashe went on to clinch the decider.

In another interesting and well-fought tie in the same section,Kolhapur’s Harshvardhan Itkarkar stayed ahead right through 30 minutes tie before getting the better of Mumbvai Suburban’s Lhavaksha Chouhan 15-13, 15-12. Fancied Pune’s Sasmit Patil scored an empathic 15-8, 15-8 win over Anurag Karayil of Mumbai Suburan in the boys singles under-15 singles. Also through to the third round was Dhruv Patel of Mumbai Suburban, who put out Nashik’s Shreeraj Pawar 15-8, 15-12..
