Dr.Babasahab Ambedkar Vidyalaya annexe Under-14 boys’ volleyball


 

As Sports For All 2016 rolled into 13th day, prodigies from chess, boxing and judo and volleyball took the centre stage here at the DY Patil Stadium, here today.

 

Dr. Babasahab Ambedkar Vidyalaya were in their menacing best as they stole the limelight in the boys’ Under-14 volleyball competition. Coming into the tournament as one of the strong contenders, they lived up to their reputation and beat Thakur Shyamnarayan High School 26-24, 27-25, 25-19 to win the gold medal. The third place went to Amrita Vidyalaya (A-Team) who got the better of KES Little Angels School (PEN).

In the Under-12 boys’ boxing 40 kgs+ category, Ayush Kakade of Dadar Parsee Youth Assembly High School won the gold, while Zahid Shaikh of St. Mathew’s High School & Jr. College, Malwani (Malad) punched his way to the silver medal. Meezhan Khan of St. Mathew’s High School & Jr. College, Malwani (Malad) took home the bronze medal. In the 40 kgs classification, Jitendra Chauhan of Sakharam Taremarg B.M.C. Hindi No-2 won the gold. The silver medal went to Samridha Kumar of Gundecha Education Academy and Dhir Shah of KES English Medium Secondary School won the bronze.

 

In the chess Under-7 boys’ category, Aditya Patel of Dhirubhai Ambani International School won the gold medal, while Daksh Shah of R.N Podar School (Santa Cruz) and Shreyaan Padwal of Billabong High International School won the silver and bronze respectively. In the girls’ Under-7 age group, Ahana Shah of Dhirubhai Ambani International School ran away with the gold, while Aneira Bawa of Mount Litera International School won the silver medal. Gauri Bhattacharya of JBCN International School (Oshiwara) won the bronze.

Mannan Bhageri of Vibgyor High School (Malad) won the gold medal in the Under-8 -36 kgs weight category of the judo competition. Kushagra Khare of Vibgyor High School (Goregaon) won the silver, while Pranaav Sheetigar of Vibgyor High School (Malad) and Om Barude of Vibgyor High School (Goregaon) took the bronze medal.  Viraj Bhosale of Gurukul Education Society won the gold medal in the -30 kgs category, while Yatharth Pandiya of Vibgyor High School finished second. Dian Doley of Ryan International School and Dhir Chedda of Shishuvan High School ended up bronze medal. The girls’ Under-10  category, the -50 kgs weight classification saw Deeya Mehta of Vibgyor High School, Malad win the gold, while Sanskriti Singh of Vibgyor High School (Malad) took the silver.

 

In the boys’ Under-11 category, top seeded Siddhant Fadnis of Podar International School (Powai) beat Shiva Ronak of R.N Podar School (Santacruz) 15-14, 15-14 to cruise into the pre-quarterfinals. Oskar Mathew of D.A.V Public School (Airoli) beat Shoumik Das of Pawar Public School (Dombivali) 15-2,15-6 to cruise into the next round. In the boy’s Under-16 category, Anurag Pramod of North Point School(Koparkhairne) eased into the quarterfinals of the championships by beating his teammate Harsha Raju Jalmuru 15-11, 15-10. Aditya Bhaskar Reddy of St. Lawrence High School (Borivali) beat Sahil Sharma of Lodha World School Palava(Dombivali) 15-3, 15-5.

 

The football boys’ Under-14 category saw the Reliance Foundation School start their campaign in an emphatic fashion with a 20-0 over DAV Public School, Nerul.  Rustomjee Cambridge International School (Dahisar)also looked in good touch and beat Don Bosco Senior Secondary School (Nerul) 7-0 in the preliminary stage match.
