The Third State ranking Veterans table tennis tournament began today with the women’s singles events in different age groups, at Prabodhankar Thackeray Kreeda Sankul, Vile Parle ( East). This year the organisers decided to have the women’s event separately to avoid delay in their matches due to heavy schedule of men’s singles and men’s team event which usually clashes with their schedule. Therefore, the men’s events will be played next weekend.

While the other finals of women’s singles events in 40+, 60+ and 65+ noticed straight contents, the Women’s 50+ finals saw a good contest between Dr.Anagha Joshi and Neeta Kulkarni, which the former won 3-2 . Incidentally, both Dr. Anagha and Neeta play for the Veterans State Women’s team in 50+ group for the veterans’ national TT and this year too they are expected to play together at the forthcoming Indore nationals scheduled for February 2019.
