Hosts PM Hindu Bath dethroned defending champions MGMO 8-3 to win the Boys under-17 GMAAA Age Group (U-17) Waterpolo finals held at their Pransukhlal Mafatlal Hindu Bath swimming pool last night. The corresponding girls final too was won by PM Hindu Bath girls, who outplayed Police Swimming Pool girls 7-2.
PMHB boys had a tough time initially as the defending champions relentlessly went on attack. However, their defence stood solid with their goalkeeper Kanishq Panchal not giving any leeway to find the target. Once the hosts opened the scoring through Vaishanav Mahadik in the closing stages of the first quarter, the holders seemed to have lost steam as the hosts boys asserted their domination to lead 4-1 at the halfway stage. The second half too proved equally one-sided as the hosts notched up four more goals to wrap up the finals (8-3).
Likewise the girls final, too, after closze fight in the opening quarter with both sharing the honours (2-2), PMHB girls went up 4-2 at the breather. The second half turned out to be totally controlled by the hosts as they ran away with 7-2 victory. Khushi Deshmukh among girls and Kanishq Panchal, their goalkeeper were adjudged the most valuable players.
