“Don’t worry, have patience” –Bank Management

After the announcement of demonetization of Rs. 1000 and Rs.500 currency notes by Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi  from Tuesday night, there was a lot of panic among the citizens of India, as to how they would get the exchange or withdraw money from the banks. Wednesday being declared a bank holiday to regularize the currency operation, today morning witnessed huge queues at the bank branches. The scene at the bank street at kandivali East, where four major bank branches have their offices was the best example.Bank Street

But, the bank employees came forward to help the anxious customers. They arranged for drinking water and distributed forms required to be filled by the customers, who had come to exchange the demonetized currency notes for valid currency notes. The customer service was really good and worth appreciating, as the customer service representatives approached each individual , asking for the purpose of their visit. They separated those very few, who just wanted to withdraw the money from their Savings bank accounts.

Magzmumbai representative, who wanted to just withdraw the money was taken inside the branch and asked to present the cheque at one of the counters, where there were hardly 3 to 4 customers. And, he immediately got the money in the denomination of Rs. 50/- which a customer rarely found in regular withdrawals from ATMs. By the way, the ATM’s were not operational even on the 2nd consecutive day . Yet, there was less rush for withdrawal from the SB account. Out of curiosity one of the customer , waiting for his turn inquired with one of the representative present there, as to why there was less rush for withdrawal at the bank, when ATM’s were not operational? And, he quickly replied with a smile on his face, “ Generally, people withdrawing money from ATM’s are mostly credit card holders.”

The overall service offered by all the banks today has been very satisfactory. “Don’t worry, have patience” seemed to be the attitude of the bank management of all the branches , all over the city.  They are really working hard.
