Don Bosco (Borivli) emerge U-16 champs; St. Joseph (Orlem) win U-14 final


Don Bosco (Borivali) got the better of Gokuldham (Goregaon) 5-4 via tie-breaker after both the teams were locked 1-1 at the regulation time, in the boys under-16 final of the Poinsur Gymkhana Inter-School Football Tournament,held under their annual Uttar Mumbai Kreeda Mahotsav at their Kandivali ground  here on today. The Bosco boys opened their account when Blaise Rodricks scored in the first  half, but then Gokuldham fought back through their forward Rugved Ghane to take the tie to tie-breaker.  In the penalty shoot-out the Bosco boys trumphed 4-3.

St Joseph’s from Orlem (Malad) won the boys under-14 trophy, beating St Lawrence  (Kandivali) 2-1.  Both the goals came in the first half. However, the second half saw some exciting mid-field exchanges, but their defenders did not allow any leeway inside the ‘D’ area.

Individual prize winners: Under-16: Best Goalkeeper: Kyle Fernandes (Don Bosco). Best Defender: Ayan Shetty (Gokuldham). Best Mid-fielder: Mayank Pawar (Don Bosco). Best Striker: Rugved Ghone. Player of the Final: Mathew Fernandes.
