DIVYANSHI BHOWMICK, the current under-15 national champion and last year’s triple crown winner in the MCF tourney once again was in irresistible form as she made the girls under-17 as well as under-15 singles semifinals in the MCF-TSTTA-2nd District Ranking table tennis tournament, held at Borivali’s Mandpeshwar Civic Federation Sports Complex here today. The girl from Kandivali’s Ryan International , Divyanshi proved her class as she thrashed her rivals without dropping even a game.
Niva Chaughule also advanced into Girls U-15 and Girls U-17 semi finals, beating Arshia Rai 3-0 and Sara Ramaiya 3-0 respectively. Another promising girl Myraa Sangelkar had mixed luck in this tournament. In Girls U-15 Myraa beat Sai Mulik 3-1 to enter semi finals; but lost in Girls U-17 Quarter finals to Urvi Churi 0-3. Myraa is trained by Nilesh Pandirkar.
Dhruv Shah, the boys under-19 third seed, turned the two games deficit against Vishesh Sarda into a splendid victory as he prevailed at 6-11, 5-11, 11-5, 11-7, 11-6 to make the last four grade. While under-17 top seed Yuvraj Yadav fought back tellingly to down Akansh Sahoo 8-11,11-9, 11-13, 11-8,11-8.
Hosts MCF’s Nilesh Gohil and Santosh Jain went through gruelling fight to emerge victors and make the top two from their group to qualfy for the Masters men’s singles (Plus 39-49) quarter finals.
