Greater Mumbai’s seasoned shuttler Naheed Divecha produced some superb performances and clinched triple crowns, winning the women’s singles and doubles and mixed doubles titles in the 45+ category in the Maharashtra Badminton Association Senior State Veteran’s Championship – 2018 organised and co-hosted by Badminton 45 and Bombay Gymkhana and played at the gymkhana’s badminton courts on Sunday.
The top seed Divecha waltzed past Pune’s second seed Deepali Joshi 21-10, 21-13 in 20 minutes in the singles final. In the doubles final, the number one seeded pairing of Divecha and Wrishalee Patil from Jalgaon got the better of second seeds Ajita Ravindran of Mumbai Suburbs and Deepali Joshi of Pune 21-12, 21-13. Earlier, top-seeded Greater Mumbai combination of Divecha and Ashutosh Pednekar sidelined the second-seeded pair of Vilas Kuvale and Wrishalee Patil cruising smoothly to a 21-9, 21-12 victory.
Meanwhi;e, Leena Dhapre of Pune District Nagpur’s Kiran Makode, also bagged double titles, winning both the singles and doubles finals in the women’s 40+ and men’s 45+ categories respectively.
In the singles final, Dhapre was in complete control and easily defeated her compatriot Prerana Joshi 21-10, 21-8 in 20 minutes. In the doubles contest, Dhapre and Madhavi Kasikar Hedau of Nagpur District combined well to record a stunning win against the Mumbai Suburban top-seeded pair of Deanne Rodrigues and Nisha Springett pulling off a hard-earned 23-21, 8-21, 21-19 in little less than an hour.
Meanwhile, Naheed Divecha of Greater Mumbai District and Nagpur’s Kiran Makode, also bagged double titles, winning both the singles and doubles finals in the women’s 45+ and men’s 45+ categories respectively.

The Nagpur shuttler Makode prevailed over Yogesh Padukone of Greater Mumbai winning in straight games 21-16, 21-14 in the singles final and along with partner Ashutosh Pednekar of Greater Mumbai scored a shock win against Mumbai Suburbs top-seeded pair of Vilas Kuvale and Yogesh Padukone coasting to a 21-12, 21-12 win to pocket the doubles title.
