Dhvaj Haria and Dhruv Sitwala shine with century efforts


Continuing with their rich vein of form,  young Dhvaj Haria of Rockets and Dhruv Sitwala of Ottomans, grabbed all the attention as they both registered a couple of century breaks each during their 4th round league match of the BSAM (Billiards & Snooker Association of Maharashtra) organized Rs 10 lakh prize-money 2nd Videocon-Billiards Premier League (BPL) 2015, and played at the Bombay Gymkhana’s Billiards Hall on Saturday night. The BPL 2015 is being ‘Powered by Videocon’ and hosted by Bombay Gymkhana.

The young 21-year-old talented Gujarat cueist, Dhvaj, showing exceptional touch, control and a hunger for big breaks, cleverly stitched together brilliant breaks of 107 and 68 (1st frame) and a composed 184 and 59 (4th frame), as he won both the frames. However, his efforts were overshadowed by the current Asian Billiards Champion, Sitwala who with a run of 60 managed to win the second frame. But, then he showed his class two well-constructed century breaks of 197, the highest of the competition, and 114 to win the deciding fifth frame, which helped Ottomans secure a tight 3-2 win over Rockets.

Earlier, Ottomans doubles team of Derek Sippy and V. Subramaniam (-90) prevailed over Subhash Agrawal and Raajeev Sharma (-90) in the third frame.

The fifth round of matches did not witness too much fire-works as Mumbai Stars maintained their super winning streak coasting to their fifth successive victory. With ace Ashok Shandilya leading the charge Mumbai Star defeated Rajdhani Ke Aryans in the 4th round and later humbled Adamo Potters winning by a comfortable 3-0 margin. They are now sitting in pole position with 12 points, including 2 bonus points. Rockets are in second position with 8 points from three wins.
