Dhurwesh’s double lifts Siddharth College


Dhurwesh Nijap’s twin strikes helped Siddharth College of Commerce and Economics upstage Byramji Jeejibhoy College of Commerce 5-3 in a tense college boys qualifying match of the Reliance Foundation Youth Sports football tournament.

BJCC took the early initiative finding goals through Porus Sidhwa (7th minute) and Hormazd Banaji (11th min) at Priyadarshini Park. Dhurwesh triggered Siddharth’s fightback finding the target in the 23rd minute and five minutes later he was once again in the thick of action scoring from the spot after his team was awarded a penalty. Having gone into the break at 2-2, Siddharth

 

stepped up a gear after resumption with Richesh Patil, Govind Rathod and Hemant Shaikh netting goals to steal a march over their rivals. Tabrez Hamdulay managed to reduce the margin in the closing stages after BJCC earned a penalty but it did not affect the result at all.

 

It was another busy day in the Mumbai-leg of the national-level tournament with 26 matches scheduled at six venues across three categories. Over 150 goals were scored with St Paul English School, Junior College & Degree College’s 17-1 victory over Seva Sadan College of Arts, Science & Commerce, Ulhasnagar in a college boys qualifier at All Saints School, Bhiwandi being the highest of the day.
