65 year old Deepak Dudhane proved his supremacy in the team event of 5th Maharashtra State Veterans Table Tennis Tournament, 2016, Nagpur on Sunday 18th December 2016. The tournament was organised by Nagpur District Table Tennis Association.
Deepak not only led his team MLWB, Mumbai into finals defeating in three straight games 50+ champion Vivek Alwani of Universal Club , during his team’s reverse singles semi final match, but also went on to win the crucial deciding 5th match against 40+ runners up Deepesh Abhyankar to bring title for his team. Deepak had good support coming from his team mate Atmaram Gangarde, who also won his opening match against Deepesh Abhyankar, besides winning the doubles in the company of Deepak against Upendra Mulye and Deepesh Abhyankar. The fourth team to make it to semis was Gomantak ‘A’ Mumbai.
Deepak also had another occasion to celebrate, as he won the 65+ individual singles event against Dilip Kurtadkar from Pune 3-1. He however had tough time against Satish Shirisath in the quarter final round.This was Deepak’s second title of the season, after winning the first at Pachgani, Satara.
