Medium pacer and Mumbai Police City Riders skipper Santosh Shinde bowled with fire to help his side score a thumping 98 runs win over Thane Marathas in the Mitsui Shoji T-20 League, at the Police Gymkhana, here today. It was Mumbai Police’s second win in the double leg league.
Thane Marathas skipper Omkar Gurav rued his decision to put the City Riders to bat after winning the toss , as the Police outfit hit up 189 for seven off 20 overs. Once again they were well served by the top order batsmen Jay Bista (29), Sunil Patil (45), Khizar Dafekar (37) and skipper Santosh Shinde with a quick fire 24.
In reply, Thane outfit put up pathetic show and were bundled out for 91 with Shashank Jadhav being their top scorer with 23. Santosh captured three wickets for four runs off just three overs.
In the other tie, Bandra Heroes notched up a thrilling 3-run win over Shivaji Park Warriors. Chasing Bandra Heroes’ 139, the Shivaji Park Warriors openers Sidhant Adatrao and Shashank Singh gave their side a good start as they put on 55 runs. But once the partnership was broken, there was not much of a resistance from the rest of the batting as they folded up three runs short of their target.
