St. Francis D’Assisi High School, Borivali lads bagged two titles, winning the boys’ under-12 and under-10 finals, in the Late Rev. Bro Nicholas Honn Memorial Trophy (7-a-side) football tourney, organized by the Franciscan Brothers and M.M. Consultants (Prabhakar G. Yogeshwar), and played at the St. Francis D’Assisi High School ground, Borivali.
In the boys’ under-12 final, the St. Francis D’Assisi side produced a solid, strong performance to quell the gallant challenge from St. Joseph’s Secondary School, Malad by winning 3-2 via the tie-breaker after the match finished in a goalless draw. Dhruv Yogeshwar, Vidant Sushil and Nitesh Singh found success for D’Assisi from the penalty spot, while only Joy Banerjee and Adityan Andhuprabil could convert for the Malad schoolboys.
Earlier in the boys’ under-10 final, the St. Francis D’Assisi boys also encountered a strong fight from St. Joseph’s before prevailing by a 2-0 scorline. Om Pathak and Alpesh Yadav were on target for the winning side.
However, there was some consolation for the Malad school, as St. Joseph’s Under-8 team defeated St. Francis D’Assisi side 2-1 in the final.
