Customs, W.R.score contrasting wins


 

Mumbai Customs produced a good combined performance and they proved too good for Central Railway as they charged to a comfortable 3-0 victory in an Elite Division match of the Rustomjee-MDFA League 2018-2019 and played at the Cooperage football ground on Wednesday morning.

 

Seasoned midfielder Praneel Mendon opened the account for Customs scoring in the 12th minute and 12 minutes later Prashant More scored from another raid at the Central Railway goal to double the lead. Pawan Rawat netted Customs third goal in the 86th minute.

 

Meanwhile, Western Railway SA eked out a narrow 1-0 win against Union Bank of India in another Elite Division match played at the Western Railway ground, Mahalaxmi. P.T. Somi scored crucial winner for Western in the 50th  minute.

 

In another match, Kenkre FC riding on Jay Bhavnani’s doubles strikes tamed Bombay Gymkhana by coasting to a fluent 4-1 win. 2, Ajay Shah and Bharat Thapa scored the other two goals for Kenkre, while Farzaad Dastor pulled one back for the losers.

 

Results – Elite Div: Mumbai Customs 3 (Praneel Mendon 12, Prashant More 24, Pawan Rawat 86) beat Central Railway SA 0.

 

Kenkre FC 4 (Jay Bhavnani 2, Ajay Shah, Bharat Thapa) beat Bombay Gymkhana 1 (Farzaad Dastor).

 

Western Railway SA 1 (P.T. Somi) beat Union Bank of India 0.
