Central Bank of India conceded a late goals and were forced to play out a 1-1 draw with Mumbai Customs in an evenly contested Elite (Corporate) Division encounter of the Mumbai Football Association (MFA) League 2022-2023 and played at the Neville D’Souza ground, Bandra on Wednesday evening.
The Central Bank outfit grabbed the initiative as striker Kamlesh Choudhary from a snap effort scored the opening goal in the 37th minute. Later, the Central Bank defenders played to deny Mumbai Customs from scoring a goal and went into the break with a slender 1-0 advantage.
On resumption, both teams continued to press forward and created quite a number of chances. Central Bank failed to increase their lead and that cost them dear as Mumbai Customs who persevered managed to finally taste success with Dhawal Waghela striking the equalizer in the 83rd minute and salvaging an honourable draw for his team and to share two points with the opponents.
Earlier, Prakash Singh scored twice and helped Judean United SC get the better of Jupiter SC by a clear 3-0 margin in a First Division encounter. Manoj Singh scored the third goal.
In a high-scoring match of the same division, Oranje FC combined well as a team and got the better of Classic FC by a 5-3 margin. Strikers Aditya Kadam, Anuj Singh, Vivek Nath, Pranjal Yadav and Harsh Singh scored a goal each to secure the win, while Classic SC scored through the efforts of Nooruddin Shaikh who scored a brace of goals and one through Joy Serwai.
