Mumbai Customs paid dearly for a missed penalty and went down fighting 1-2 to Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) in an Elite Division match of the Mumbai District Football Association League 2016-2017, and played at the Cooperage ground on Wednesday.
The oilmen went on the offensive from the start and took an early lead when their Nigerian recruit Anan Enock found the back of the net in the very seventh minute. Six minutes later, Satyam Sharma scored the second goal as ONGC went into the break with a 2-0 advantage.
After switching ends, Customs put an improved display and scored from a penalty conversion through Ashrafali Makandar in the 55th minute. That goal infused more life in the Customs attack and they worked harder but wasted quite a few chances including a penalty late in the game. Towards the end Customs were awarded another penalty by referee Rosario Fernandes, but this time Pramod Galane blasted over the penalty spot.
