The defending champions Mumbai Customs and the runners-up Champions Training Centre (CTC) have been given direct entry into the quarter-finals of the men’s competition in this year’s Bandra Gymkhana Annual Open Rink Hockey Tournament 2024, The tournament, kicks off on Monday, April 22nd.
The reigning champions Central Railway and the Steel Plant Sports Board, who were the losing finalists, will also begin their campaign from the quarter-final stage in the women’s draw.
Apart from the men’s and women’s events, the tournament will also feature competitions for Boys’ under-14 and Girls’ under-14 categories. A total of 18 teams will be competing for the top honours in Men’s draw, while 10 teams will battle it out in the Women’s event. In the junior competition, eight boys’ teams and 10 girls’ teams have confirmed their participation.
This year, Kangleipak from Manipur will be participating in the tournament. One men’s team and two women’s teams will be showcasing their skills.
The matches will be played under floodlights at the Bandra Gymkhana tennis courts in a direct knockout format, with the grand finals scheduled for April 27th.
The winners and runners-up in the men’s and women’s categories will receive trophies and cash prizes, while the junior boys and girls will be awarded trophies. Individual awards will also be presented in all four categories.
The stage is set for an exciting showcase of talent and teamwork as The Bandra Gymkhana gears up to host another thrilling Rink Hockey tournament.
