Mumbai Customs showed good coordination and understanding to overcome Income Tax by a tennis score 6-1 margin in an Elite (Corporate) Division match of the Mumbai Football Association (MFA) League 2022-2023 and played at the Neville D’Souza ground, Bandra on Monday evening.
Mumbai Customs combined well as a team and scored at regular intervals through Ayush Shetty, Abhishek Bhagat, Ajinkya Birajdar, Praneel Mendon, Tanmay Rai and Hekmat Singh, all chipping in with a goal apiece to complete the winning tally, while Income Tax scored a consolation goal through Sandesh Gadkari.
Later in the evening, Reserve Bank of India scored a goal in each half to overcome the Central Bank of India by a comfortable 2-0 margin. Reserve Bank opened the scoring in the third minute through consistent goal-scorer Trop Nunes to take a 1-0 lead. Central Bank fought on gamely and created quite a number of goal-scoring chances, but the strikers were unable to hit the target which cost them dear. Reserve Bank managed to score a second goal through Karan Jaswar efforts and complete a win to collect the full three points.
Earlier, Om Saidham SM scored a hard-fought 1-0 win against Don Bosco Academy in a First Division play-off match. Striker Roger Pereira scored the lone goal in the sixth minute. Referee Umesh Patel showed the red card to Om Saidham’s Tanishq Gadge and Roger Pereira and Don Bosco’s Ramzan Shaikh and Mohd Nisar Shaikh for violent conduct in the first minute of added time of the first half.
