Children’s Academy (Malad) win SFA Under-16 volleyball event


On an action packed day that saw young athletes battle it out in nine sporting disciplines in Sports For All 2016, Children’s Academy, Malad stole the limelight by becoming champions in the Girls’ Under-16 volleyball tournament at the DY Patil Stadium here on Wednesday.

Taking on Amrita Vidyalaya in the title clash, Children’s Academy dominated the proceedings from the onset to eventually win 21-14, 25-18 & 25-14 and walk away with the gold medal. Children’s Academy, Ashok Nagar won the bronze medal.

 

RS Naik Vidyalaya and Junior College beat Saraswati Secondary School 40-1 to reign supreme in the Under -17 girls’ kabaddi championship, while the third place went to SIA High School and Junior College.

In the boys’ Under-16 hockey tournament that is being played at the Maharashtra Hockey Association, Children’s Academy, Malad and Maharashtra Military School Talavali (Baragaon) were engaged in a grueling battle for the gold medal with the former eventually running away with the top honours by virtue of their 4-1 victory. In handball Under-12 boys’ category, Lady Ratanbai & Sir Mathuradas Vissanji Academy beat Vibgyor High School, Malad 9-2 to win the gold medal, while Sri Ma Vidyalaya won the bronze.

In taekwondo girls’ Under-12 taekwondo tournament, Dilyna D’Souza of Cannosa High School, Mahim won the gold in the -44 weight category, while Kunjal Tripathi of Orchid International School, Thane took home the silver medal. Mahek Himmatramka of Ryan International School, Chembur and Ishita Ashish Srivastava of Sadhu Vaswani International School ended with the bronze medal. In +44 weight category, Esha Shah of Diamond Jubilee High School, Mazgaon won the gold medal. Manasvi Archana of St. Lawrence School, Vashi took the silver, while Mansvi Suryakant Kate of North Mumbai Welfare School and Charmy Mukesh Kotadia of D.Y. Patil International School, Worli ended with bronze medal.

 

In tennis girls’ Under-16 tournament, Shanaya Naik of Jamnabai Narsee School beat Kiara D’Souza of Lilavatibai Podar High School 6-5, to set up the summit clash with Malvika Shukla of Podar International School, Khar who beat Mithali Shetty of Bhavan’s A.H Vadia 9-2.

 

In football Under-14 football competition, it was Reliance Foundation School who stole the show by beating St. Joseph High School, Panvel 14-0. St. Augustine High School also displayed a clinical performance to beat Maharashtra Military School Talavali, (Baragaon) 11-0.

1.      Children’s Academy, Malad beat Amrita Vidyalaya by 25-14,25-18 & 25-14 to claim the gold and bronze respectively

 

2.      In the third place match Children’s Academy, Ashok Nagar won the bronze

 

Kabaddi Girls’ U-17 Final –

1.     R.F Naik Vidyalaya and Junior College won gold

 

2.     Saraswati Secondary School, Naupada won silver
