Children Academy emerge champs


Children Academy (Malad) emerged champions defeating Combined Schools 2-1 in the final of the Inter-Schools Champions League Hockey tournament organized by the St. Peter’s Youth Centre and played at the St. Stanislaus High School’s Fr. Donnelly Sports Complex Artificial Turf, Bandra.

Om Rathod and Rythm Mamnia were bang on target scoring a goal each for Children Academy, while Combined Schools scored one through Govind Nag.

 

Rythm Mamnai was later adjudged as the ‘Player of the final’, while Govind Nag was declared as the ‘Player of the tournament’. SPYC also presented three ‘Best goalkeeper’ awards to Chris Johnson (Don Bosco), Reuben D’Souza (St. Stanislaus) and Kamran Shaikh (Combined School).

 

In the Veterans Men’s Hockey League final, Sea View prevailed over Bombay Republicans by a 2-1 margin. Laxman Rao and Olympian Dhanraj Pillay netted a goal each for the winners while Meghraj S. pulled one back for the losers.

 

Vijay Kannan of Sea View won the ‘Player of the tournament’ prize while Meghraj bagged the ‘Player of the final’. Award.

 

Results – Veterans Hockey League (final): Sea view 2 (Laxman Rao, Dhanraj Pillay) beat Bombay Republicans SC 1 (Meghraj S.).

Inter-Schools Champions League (final): Children Academy 2 (Rythm Mamnia, Om Rathod) beat Combined Schools 1 (Govind Nag).
