Champions Air India will began the defence of their title when they take on Century Rayon in a first round match of the Deserve Builder & Devolopers-RCF Premier Cup Football Tournament, organized by RCF Colony Boys Krida and Sanskrutik Mandal, which will be played at the RCF Colony ground, Chembur on Thursday.
Meanwhile, newly formed Nagpur FC, an outstation outfit and a strong challenger for the title, will face off against Sellebrity FC later in the evening. Rajra Mines, Bhillia (MP), the second team from outside Mumbai, will launch their campaign against Dena Bank, while local outfits Western Railway clash with Kenkre in other first round matches on the opening day.
In other first round encounters scheduled for Friday are, PIFA Colaba vs Union Bank of India; Central Railway vs Central Bank of India; Karnatak SA vs Mumbai Customs and ONGC vs Bank of India.
A women’s football event, featuring eight women teams – Steadfast SC, Rhino SC, Kenkre FC, Bodyline FC, Fr. Agnel, Companeroes SC, Football Leaders and Bandra Packers will fight for the top honours. Simultaneously an event for boys’ under-14 featurinh 8 teams will also be conducted.
The men’s champion team will get Rs 1,11,111 and runner-up Rs 55,000 besides trophies. The women winners will receive Rs 25,000 and the runners-up Rs 15,000 plus trophies. The boys will be presented with trophies. In addition there will also be other individual awards.
