Every student has memories, good and bad, about school and the teachers. Actually, it is teacher’s love and passion towards this noble profession, which actually creates nation’s ‘tomorrow’ by instilling determinedly high moral values in their wards. But, unfortunately, teaching is the most undervalued profession in our country today.
To throw light on this plight and to pay respect to this noble profession of teaching, producer Amin Surani under the banner Surani Pictures is coming up with a new hindi movie ‘Chalk N Duster’, which is being directed by Jayant Gilatar.
The makers of this film, recently released the first look of the movie at Mumbai at a popular suburban preview theatre.
The event , which was anchored by Lekha Raj, was attended by almost entire cast and crew of the film.
“I am missing my lead artist Shabanaji. She is in Bangladesh at present. And I am thankful of entire cast for the cooperation rendered to complete the shoot under six months,” director Jayant Gilatar said, after the Trailer of Chalk N Duster was launched. Juhi Chawla, who is playing a major role in the film said, “I was looking forward to work with such accomplished actor Shabanaji and was exited too. And the plethora of talented actors have helped the film to be entertaining with a serious message.”
Divya Dutta who is playing a main negative character in the film, described it as Idealism v/s Practicality. Upasana Singh, who also is a part of cast, enthralled the audience with her one-liners and kept everyone in splits while narrating her school days memories. “Ours is a maiden production and am happy to be associated with a subject like education and it’s growing commercialisation in my very first movie’ Producer Amin Surani expressed his views. Baba Azmi, cinematographer, chuckled and reminisced about the ‘lecture session’ on a Sunday Family lunch by his sister Shabana.
The ensemble of cast comprises of Shabana Azmi, Juhi Chawla, Divya Dutta, Upasana Singh, Girish Karnad, Zarina Wahab, Samir Soni, Aarya Babbar, Adi Irani, and Rishi Kapoor, Richa Chadda and Jackie Shroff will be seen in special appearances.
Incidentally, when asked to comment on recent ‘insult to national anthem’ controversy, everyone was groping for words, so as to avoid any further controversy; but , Baba Azmi emphatically commented,”Everyone has to Stand Up when National Anthem is played. No discussions or arguments.”
‘Chalk N Duster’ is slated for release in 2016 on 15th of January which is distributed by Sony Pictures India.
