Producing a solid fighting display Community Football Club of India (CFCI) snatched a deserving 2-1 win against a spirited GM Sports Club in an Elite Division match of the Rustomjee-MDFA League 2018-2019 and played at the Neville D’Souza ground, Bandra on Monday.
The CFCI outfit showed positive intent from the start and enjoyed the better of the exchanges. Their efforts reaped rewards as midway through the first period Ashish Pawaskar hit the target to put CFCI in the lead.
GM Sports made a strong reply in the second period and managed to restore parity through Sudhakar Ranjan’s strike in the 50th minute.
But, the determined CFCI side pressed hard and regained the lead when prolific scorer Rishon Sam scored the second goal which secured their win and to pocket all the three points.
Results – Elite Div: CFCI 2 (Ashish Pawaskar, Rishon Sam) beat GM Sports Club 1 (Sudhakar Ranjan).
