Solid century knocks from middle-order bats Siddhant Adatrao 150 runs and Gautam Waghela 112 runs powered hosts P.J. Hindu Gymkhana to a massive 113-run win against Cricket Club of India in a third round match of the 108th Spinny-Purshottam Shield Cricket Tournament 2024, played at the Hindu Gymkhana ground on Saturday.
Sent in to bat, Hindu Gymkhana suffered initial setbacks losing the top three batsmen with just 31 runs on the board in 5.3 overs. But, Adatrao and Waghela batted aggressively and smashed the rival bowlers to all corners of the ground as Hindu Gymkhana amassed a massive total of 389 for 8 wickets I 45 overs.
Adatrao innings came from 96-balls and was decorated with 18 well-timed hits to the ropes and six powerful sixes, while Waghela’s 89-ball knock contained 13 boundaries and two cracks over the fence.
Cricket Club of India made a strong reply but fell short as they only managed to score 276 all out in 38.4 overs. Rudra Danday 50, Akash Parkar 47, Chinmay Sutar 45, and Akhil Herwadkar 42 all made substantial contributions but failed to surpass the home team’s total.
Meanwhile, MIG Cricket Club recorded a resounding 226 runs victory against Goregaon SC in another match. MIG CC’s Om Keshkamat cracked a century 102 runs and Atharva Ankolekar picked 5 wickets for just 6 runs.
