CentralBank snatch win over W.Rly


Elite Division Football match of the MDFA

Central Bank of India persevered and their efforts paid off as they managed to snatch a close 2-1 win against a plucky Western Railway in an evenly fought Elite Division match of the MDFA (Mumbai District Football Association) League 2015-2016, and played at the Cooperage football ground, on Monday evening. Russell Galbano and Prathamesh Kasare were on target for Central Bank while Praval Chakraborty netted the lone goal for the railwaymen.

Both Central Bank and Western Railway adopted an attacking and positive approach and the match was quite a lively affair. After a couple of attempts by either side, Central Bank found success with prolific striker Galbano hit the target in the 36th minute.

Western fought determinedly and after switching ends struck the equaliser through the efforts of Chakraborty in the 56th minute.

But just as the match seemed to be heading for a draw, Central Bank managed to score a late winner through Kasare to pocket all the three points. This was the second win for Central Bank who now have 7 points from 3 games.

There will be no Elite Division match on Tuesday. The next match will be played between Indian Navy and Union Bank of India on Wednesday, October 14 at 3.00 pm.

Results – Elite Div: Central Bank of India 2 (Russell Galbano 36th, Prathamesh Kasare 92nd) beat Western Railway 1 (Praval Chakraborty 56th).
