Central Bank of India snatched a late winner to carve out a hard-fought 1-0 win against Western Railway in a Premier (Corporate) Division match of the Mumbai Football Association (MFA) football league at the Neville D’Souza ground, Bandra on Wednesday.
Both, Central Bank and Western Railway were engaged in a keen tussle for supremacy. But, as the match seemed to be heading for a goalless finish, Central Bank managed to break the deadlock with striker Rithik Chand hitting the target in the second minute of additional period to give his team a win and the full three points.
Earlier, D.K. Pharma SC after initial resistance from Indian Cultural League went on to score two goals late in the game to come out worthy 4-1 victors. For the Pharma outfit striker Haogouthang Haokip scored two goals, including a late penalty while Nandha Ananthraj and Sehgouthang Tuboi scored one each to secure their win. Indian Cultural League were lucky to get on the scoreboard as Pharma defender Goulen Kipgen scored an own goal in the second session.
