Central Bank hold Union Bank 1-1


Central Bank of India played with determination and scored a late equalizer to force Union Bank of India to play out a close 1-1 draw in a keenly contested Premier (Corporate) Division match of the Mumbai Football Association (MFA) League 2023-2024 and played at the Neville D’Souza ground, Bandra late on Thursday.

Union Bank against the run of play took the lead when striker Lalith Bangera hit the target in the 74th minute to give his team the advantage. But, Central Bank players not prepared to give up with putting up a fight managed to score a goal through Manish Tandon in the first minute of additional time to secure a honourable draw and a division of two points.

Earlier, in a First Division Match, Regal Sports Foundation and Anstrengung United also played out a 1-1 draw. Regal Foundation took the lead through Hrishikesh Salunkhe’s strike before Anstrengung United scored the equalizer through Alok Thakkar’s efforts.

Meanwhile, MH Oranje FC proved too strong for Footie First and romped to a 4- 0 victory. Striker Alister D’Souza scored a brace of goals while Harsh Shegaokar and Althmash Qureshi scored one each to complete Oranje’s winning tally.

Results – Second Div: MH Oranje FC 4 (Alister D’Souza 2, Harsh Shegaokar, Althmash Qureshi) beat Footie First SC 0.

First Div: Regal Sports Foundation 1 (Hrishikesh Salunkhe) drew with Anstrengung United 1 (Alok Thakkar).

Premier Corporate Div: Union Bank of India 1 (Lalith Bangera) drew with Central Bank of India 1 (Manish Tandon).
