Cricket Club of India snapped Parsee Gymkhana’s superb unbeaten runs defeating them by 9 runs in the ‘Super’ over in the semi-finals of the Bombay Gymkhana organized Nirlon-R.F.S. Talyarkhan Memorial Invitation Cricket Tournament 2021-2022, conducted under the auspices of MCA at the Bombay Gymkhana ground on Sunday.

In the second semi-final, last edition’s runners-up MCA Colts riding on the excellent bowling by medium pacer Sylvester D’Souza (5 for 24) comfortably defeated Islam Gymkhana by 49 runs to advance to the final.

Earlier, reigning champions Parsee Gymkhana, who were on the threshold of claiming their fourth successive trophy this season, were dismissed for a paltry 130 from their stipulated 20 overs.

Parsee Gym, who started without several of their key players, who are on national duty or with the Mumbai Ranji Trophy team, fought back strongly to restrict CCI for the same total of 130 for 7 wickets from their quota of 20 overs to tie the match.

In the subsequent Super over, CCI batting first did not lose a wicket scoring 13 runs with Sujit Nayak making 12 runs with one boundary and Saksham Parashar adding one run. Requiring 14 runs to win, Parsee Gym scored only 4 runs which came from the bat of Vaibhav Kalakar and lost two wickets and the match.
