The 68th National School Games Championship, an annual sporting event in India concluded recently at Rajkot. The event was organized by the Ministry of Education, Government of India. The aquatic Championship 2024-25 witnessed record participation of more than 2000 swimmers across states and school boards. The event was well organised by Sports Authority of Gujarat from 24th November to 30th November 2024.
Young twin sisters Anvi Deshwal and Saanvi Deshwal from Mumbai, have displayed their best in each of their events in the Under- 14 Girls category. Anvi Deshwal won 3 individual Gold medals in 50m Freestyle (fastest swimmer in under-14 girls), 100m Freestyle and 200m Freestyle events. Her twin sister Saanvi Deshwal decimated the competition in the Breast stroke events winning her races with a huge margin.
Saanvi Deshwal with her best timing of 2:26.01 seconds was the Best Medley swimmer across all age groups at 68th National School Games while Bhumika Kashyap of Assam won silver with 2:43.28 seconds. Saanvi also won Gold medals in 100m Breast and 200m Breast stroke events.
Deshwal sisters led the CISCE relay team to a gold medal win in both relay events of the age group – 4x100m Medley relay and 4x100m Freestyle relay events.
CISCE won 14 Golds under in women;s section, out of which 8 Gold medals were won by the Deshwals for the Board, representing The Bombay Scottish School, Mahim, Mumbai. Anvi Deshwal and Saanvi Deshwal train at the Otters Dolphin Program run by top National coach Mr. Nihar Ameen. They are balancing their studies well even as they put grilling hours in Swimming.
