Twins Saanvi & Anvi win Girls U-14 National School Games Swimming Championship


The 68th National School Games Championship, an annual sporting event in India concluded recently at Rajkot. The event was organized by the Ministry of Education, Government of India. The  aquatic Championship 2024-25 witnessed record participation of more than 2000 swimmers across states and school boards. The event was well organised by Sports Authority of Gujarat  from 24th November to 30th November 2024.

Young twin sisters Anvi Deshwal and Saanvi Deshwal from Mumbai, have displayed their best in each of their events in the Under- 14 Girls category. Anvi Deshwal won 3 individual Gold medals in 50m Freestyle (fastest swimmer in under-14 girls), 100m Freestyle and 200m Freestyle events. Her twin sister Saanvi Deshwal decimated the competition in the Breast stroke events winning her races with a huge margin.

Saanvi Deshwal with her best timing of 2:26.01 seconds was the Best Medley swimmer across all age groups at 68th National School Games while Bhumika Kashyap of Assam won silver with 2:43.28 seconds. Saanvi also won Gold medals in 100m Breast and 200m Breast stroke events.

Deshwal sisters led the CISCE relay team to a gold medal win in both relay events of the age group – 4x100m Medley relay and 4x100m Freestyle relay events.

CISCE won 14 Golds under in women;s section, out of which 8 Gold medals were won by the Deshwals for the Board, representing The Bombay Scottish School, Mahim, Mumbai. Anvi Deshwal and Saanvi Deshwal train at the Otters Dolphin Program run by top National coach Mr. Nihar Ameen. They are balancing their studies well even as they put grilling hours in Swimming.

14-year-old Tanvi Grover has emerged as the youngest titleholder of Miss Teen India NY, Miss Teen India USA, and now Miss Teen India Worldwide. The Miss Teen India pageant, owned by Indian Americans Neelam and Dharmatma Saran of Worldwide Pageants based in New York. It is a prestigious international  competition for girls aged 13-18. Contestants represent Indian communities  across the globe, with contestants required to meet specific criteria, including age, height, and citizenship.


Organized by Neelam and Dharmatma Saran, the Miss Teen India Worldwide event is a flagship extravaganza held in different parts of the world making it one of the largest and most significant pageants on the global stage. Founded in 1980 and headquartered in New York, the event has witnessed remarkable growth under Sarans  leadership, evolving from Miss Teen India USA to its current international stature.


Tanvi Grover’s journey is as diverse as her talents. A graduate of the renowned New York Film Academy, Tanvi is a versatile artist skilled in competitive American dance styles, violin playing, lacrosse, and writing. Her commitment to various forms of expression is evident in her exploration of ballet, hip-hop, and traditional Indian dance like Kathak. Actor Kabbir Spreads Love and Support at Cancer Hospital, Bringing Smiles to Kids’ Faces

Chitah Yajnesh Shetty teaches self-defense programme to 600 school girls


March 8 is an important day for all the women around the world, which is celebrated as ‘International Women’s Day’. Everyone celebrates this occasion in their own way. President of ‘Chitah Jeet Kune Do Global Sports Federation’ (CJKD)and famous martial arts expert of Bollywood, Chitah Yajnesh Shetty, on the occasion of ‘International Women’s Day’ conducted a self defense program through martial arts for 600 passionate girls students of ‘Bunts Sangha’s SM Shetty International School’, Powai,Mumbai. In which Principal Madam, SM Shetty School teachers and staff supported it.

On the same occasion the students who appeared for the CJKD grading exams were honoured with Belts & Certificates. Chitah Yajnesh Shetty congratulated everyone on ‘International Women’s Day’ and said, “Just celebrating Women’s Day is not going to make a difference in the lives of some women. For that they have to be able to become self-reliant and everyone should take concrete steps to strengthen them physically & mentally.

Everyone should change their thinking towards women, then we will truly have the right to celebrate International Women’s Day. “

By the way, Chitah Yajnesh Shetty has trained over 150 film stars and around 10 lakh women in the Nirbhay women empowerment and training program. He has his own identity in the country and abroad.


Bhowmick sisters make Ryan International School proud, winning Inter School TT Trophy


Bhowmick sisters Hitangshi and Divyanshi  made their Ryan International School, Kandivali proud, winning the Mumbai School Sports Association’s Inter School Table Tennis Tournament ( Girls Under- 16), which concluded recently.   This was Hitangshi’s maiden Gold , teaming up with her Champion Sister  Divyanshi, representing Ryan International School. In the finals of team event, Ryan International School, Kandivali beat D.Y.Patil International School 2-1.

In the individual Singles Under 14 event Divyanshi Bhowmick bagged another Gold medal defeating Vaishnavi Jaiswal from Pawar Public School 4-0 in the finals. 11 year old Divyanshi is the rising TT star from Mumbai, who has been consistently performing this year, winning many prizes in Girls Uner 13 , Under 15 and Girls Under -17 age group. With this Inter School performance, she has added one more feather in her cap. Bhowmick sisters have thanked their school authorities for the finest support and have appreciated the encouragement received from their parents.


11 year Old Divyanshi Bhowmick is a rising TT star from Kandivali, Mumbai


11 year old Divyanshi Bhowmick from Ryan International School, Kandivali has made tremendous progress in the game of Table Tennis this year. Divyanshi started playing Table tennis from December 2018 and within a short time she made remarkable progress in this game, in spite of the corona pandemic  period during the years 2020 and 2021. During this period, when the schools were closed Divyanshi used this time to practice with her sister Hitangshi and father Rahul Bhowmick, with hard work , commitment and focus on this game. “ Besides these qualities, ‘discipline’ has been very instrumental in her progress so far,” says her mother Preeti Bhowmick.

Divyanshi has not only won medals just in Under -13 girls event but also in Under-15 and Under-17 Girls events. Now studying in 7th standard, Divyanshi’s recent achievements this year have been very good at at the National   and state level TT tournaments. Divyanshi won   Gold medal in the National Ranking TT Championship held at Indore in the month of May this year in the U-13 age event , followed by Gold medal in the 1st Maharashtra State Ranking Tournament held at Nanded in July in the U- 13 event  and a silver medal in the U-15 girls event. Thereafter, double Gold medal in the 2nd Maharashtra State Ranking Tournament held at Nagpur in U-13 and U-15 Youth Girls event . She won medal in the 3rd Maharashtra State Ranking held at Nasik in U-13 event.  Last month she won Gold medal  in U-13 event in the 4th Maharashtra State Ranking Tournament held at Thane. There are many more medals won by her this year, including Triple Crown at the 2nd District ranking TT tournament.

Looking at her present performance at the age of 11 , we expect her to make further progress at the national level in the days to come.  But, with her current performance, she has not only made her parents and family proud, but also her teachers in Ryan International School, Kandivali and Coach Aakash Kasar from Ace TT Academy, Thane. Sky is the limit for this little promising girl.


Mumbai kid Shrinivas launches sports website ‘kidstime.in’


Schoolboy Shrinivas Darade is an ardent sports enthusiast, who avidly follows leading global sports, football, basketball, lawn tennis and motor sports. To pursue his passion, the 14-year-old Shrinivas, a 9th standard student of Cathedral and John Connon School, Fort, Mumbai, has created ‘kidstime.in’, which is an exclusive sports website.

Kidstime.in is the first of its kind of digital platform for kids, which provides an opportunity for sports-minded children to share their enthusiasm and passion for sports and their experiences on various sporting activities.

Speaking after launching the website, Shrinivas said, “this is my initiative and I am getting all the support from friends to run and manage the website and all the encouragement from my parents. I watch a lot of sports, but could not find many friends to talk about the games. But, through this website children from all around the world have a platform on which they can interact with each other, discuss the outcome of matches, about their idols, and their favourite teams/clubs, and most interesting make friends.”

Shrinivas got hooked on sports from the age of three as he started playing tennis and currently represents his school in basketball and was captain of the under-10 and under-12 teams. He also enjoys playing football and cricket and has excellent knowledge of football, F1, NBA and tennis. The young lad Shrinivas is a big fan of the German football team.

Present at the launch was Kim Dominik Wuth, Vice-Chancellor General of Germany, in Mumbai, Markus Weiner, Director International Relations and Peter Deubet, Ex Deputy Director Indo-German Chamber of Commerce, Matthias Brosamer, Head of Sports, Asia, FC Bayern Munich. They were all impressed with Shrinivas and his initiative to create a website which would unite children across the globe and wished him and the digital platform all the very best for its success.


7 year old Om Todankar from Mumbai steals the show at National Aerobics Championship


7 year old Om Todankar from Kendriya Vidyalaya IIT Powai, stole the show at 16th ISAAF India National Aerobics Championship 2022 hosted by  Sanjivani International School, Shirdi, Maharashtra. Trained by Shankar Kolate at the R.A.D.A.V. Anshul Sports Academy, Bhandup, Mumbai, Om who had practiced very hard for the past few months, went on to win three medals at this championship.

There were events like Sports Aerobics, Fitness Aerobics, Step Aerobics and Hip Hop and the wonder boy Om bagged Gold medal in Group National Aerobics, another Gold in Trio National Aerobics and a Silver Medal in Individual National Aerobics at this prestigious championship. This championship was organized by Sports Aerobics & Fitness Association ( SAFAM) under the auspices of Indian Sports Aerobics & Fitness Federation( ISAFF  India) between 6th and 8th May 2022.

Recently, Om had won two Bronze medals at the Krida Bharati Suryanaskara and Yoga Competition in Under -8 age group. Multitalented Om also takes keen interest in music and plays casio musical keyboard very well. His parents, grandparents, teachers and trainer have always encouraged him . With his current progress, it seems ‘sky is the limit’ for this little boy from Damle Colony, Kanjur Marg.


FHRAI Announces Student Scholarship Programme For B.Sc. In Hospitality & Hotel Administration At FHRAI-IHM


India’s apex Hospitality Association – Federation of Hotel & Restaurant Associations of India (FHRAI) in association with its regional Associations have announced the launch of a scholarship program for students interested in pursuing a 3-year B.Sc. in Hospitality and Hotel Administration from the FHRAI Institute of Hospitality Management (FHRAI-IHM), Greater Noida. FHRAI-IHM is the first and only private institution run by an Industry Association to be affiliated with the National Council for Hotel Management & Catering Technology (NCHMCT), an autonomous body under the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India.FHRAI IHM institute

 

Children of employees of member establishment of FHRAI and its regional Associations will be offered 50 per cent waiver in the admission, enrolment, tuition and examination fees and 20 per cent waiver will be offered to children from the families of hospitality patrons or employees. In solidarity with the plights of the workers who lost their jobs during pandemic, as a special case, the scholarship will be provided to the children of hospitality sector employees of member establishments who lost jobs during the pandemic, based on a certification by the member establishment and the regional Associations.FHRAI logo

“The scholarship scheme can be availed by children of employees working in the member establishments of FHRAI and its regional Associations who fulfil the age and eligibility criteria for admission as per NCHMCT norms. Associations will shortlist the eligible candidates from their region and recommend them for enrolment in FHRAI – IHM under the scholarship program. It is our endeavour to create a qualified and committed workforce for the sector and we would like a maximum number of students to avail of this scholarship opportunity,” says Mr Surendra Kumar Jaiswal, Vice President, FHRAI.

 

FHRAI-IHM is built on a sprawling 7-acre campus with state-of-the-art facilities and infrastructure at Knowledge City in Greater Noida. It hosts a well-equipped 70-bedded hostel for girls and 200-bedded hostel for boys on the campus. The institute boasts of dedicated and experienced faculty working under the Director of the Institute – Arun Kumar Singh, former Principal of IHM, Mumbai. Singer Chandni Vegad’s new video album “Radha Rani Lage” was released by Gujarat’s “Dave Digital” company on Saturday, July 10,2021 on all digital platforms.This is a devotional song sung in an unique way and picturised fabulously. The album was shot in different famous locations of Gujarat’s most sought after pilgrimage centre Dwarka”. Dwarka is known as the work place of Lord Krishna. Chandni Vegad, who hails from Jamnagar in Gujarat, is the daughter of Jamnagar, Gujarat’s former Senior  Civil Judge K P Vegad. Vegad who was earlier residing in Jamnagar, has shifted to Rajkot, a few days back. Chandni Vegad, who passed SSC from Jamnagar’s Shri Satya Sai Vidyalaya this year, has taken admission in Rajkot’s Rajkumar College (RKC) for 11 th standard. She wants to pursue  studies, while developing a singing career. She has participated in several singing shows in Gujarat and Mumbai.

About her new video album “Radha Rani Lage”, Chandni said that “ I can sing and I have sung the songs of every genre. This devotional song was the best. I got an opportunity to sing it and I sung it. The shooting took place in historic Dwarka and it will be memorable. I expect that the people will like this song”.

 

Chandni has signed a contract to sing for a Hindi feature film “Living Relation” being produced under the banner of the “High Speed Cine International”. The recording of the song could not take place due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However the recording will take place in Mumbai soon.
