Playing on their home turf, Campion School (Cooperage Road) emerged champions winning the Boys’ under-8 crown by defeating St. Stanislaus (Bandra) 3-0 in the final of the Jesuit Cup inter-schools football tournament 2019, organised by Campion School and played at the Back Garden ground, Colaba on Wednesday evening.
The highlight of Campion School’s success was the brilliance of energetic and dashing striker Yusuf Pardiwala who exhibited excellent skills and superb finishing touch to register a fine hat-trick by scoring all the three goals to seal their triumph.
Yusuf for his heroics was declared as the Best player of the tournament’ and received his award and certificate from Mr. Paul Machado, Principal of Campion School. Te organizing committee named Samuel Tennyson (Campion) as the ‘Best goalkeeper of the tournament;.
Later in the Boys’ Under-10 final, St. Stanislaus, Bandra got the better of Campion School 3-2 via the penalty shootout tie-breaker after full-time finished in a goalless stalemate. Harsh Goenka of Campion School was judged as the ‘Best player of the tournament’, while the ‘Best goalkeeper of the tournament’ award went to Gordon Kamble of St. Stanislaus School.
A total of eight Jesuit-run schools participated in this tournament.
