Cambridge(Kandivali)shock St.Stanislaus


A goal each by Jainesh Doshi midway in the first half and another  by Varun Singh in the second half enabled Cambridge (Kandivali) upset fancied St. Stanislaus (Bandra) 2-0 in the boys under-14 final of the DSO-Mumbai Suburban District level  Inter-School Football Tournament, organized by Vision Sports Reconnect and Fairplay Sports Management at at St Francis D’Assisi Ground, Borivali today.  The finals of the girls unde-17 will be played on Monday, October 10.

The day’s spotlight, however, was on the  Mary Immaculate girls from Borivali, who   did their school proud as they notched up two good wins on their way to the girls Under-17 final. In the quarterfinals, thanks to a goal each by  Winnona Nazerath and Naomi Fernandes, Mary Immaculate beat Ryan International (Kandivali) 2-0 and then followed it up in the afternoon by  scoring over Jamnabai Narsee in the semifinals. The Borivali girls will face Bandra’s Apostolic Carmel girls, who were distinctly lucky to get past Arya Vidyamandir (Juhu), who dominated most part of their  exchanges during the regulation period, but lost on tie-breaker 3-1.

 

Results: GIRLS U-17:  (Semifinals): Mary Immaculate (Borivali) 3 (Valencia D’Mello 2, Angela Rumao) bt Jamnabai Narsee (Vile Parle) 0. Apostolic Carmet (Bandra) 3 (Trevina Fernandes, Jessica D’Souza, Gauhar Mithaiwala) bt Arya Vidyamandir (Juhu) 1 (Nishka Grover) via tie-breaker. (FT: 0-0).

BOYS  U-14: (Final): Cambridge (CBSE-Kandivali ) 2 (Jianesh Doshi, VarunSigh) bt St. Stanislaus (Bandra) 0. (3rd Place): Udayachal (Vikhroli) 4 (Anuj Shelar, Siddarth Ravi, Aryan Kelekar, Rishraj Bhosale)  bt St. Anne’s Malad) 3 (Sheldon Rodrigues,Meer Lakhani, Synclair Synaira) via tie-breaker. (FT: 0-0).
