Striker Brendon Fernandes scored twice, one in each half to steer Union Bank of India to an emphatic 2-0 win against former champions Mumbai Customs in an Elite (Corporate) Division match of the Mumbai Football Association (MFA)2023, at the Neville D’Souza ground, Bandra on Thursday.
Fernandes scored the first goal in the sixth minute and netted the second in the fourth minute additional period to complete the win.
In an interesting First Division encounter YSA (Youth Soccer Academy) Bandra got the better of Rudra FC (JBU) by a slender 1-0 margin. Enterprising striker Mohit Chandiramani scored the all-important winning goal to secure YSA’s victory.
In another match of the same division, Don Bosco Academy defeated Yawn FC 3-1 after leading 1-0 at the break. Omkar Singh scored a brace of goals while Rahul Thorat scored one. Yawn FC reduced the deficit with Pragnesh Shetty scoring the lone goal.
Earlier, the Elite Division match scheduled to be played between Reserve Bank of India and Century Rayon on Wednesday evening was not played as the former had not completed the mandatory CRS process of their players.
