Football enthusiasts will get an opportunity to watch the Under-17 national teams of Brazil, England and New Zealand play practice matches at the Mumbai Football Arena (Andheri Sports Complex) next week in their final tune-up for the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup to be hosted, here, in India from October 6 to 28, 2017.
This was announced by MDFA President, Aditya Thackeray at a media brief at the Cooperage ground on Friday evening. “Brazil, England and New Zeal have decided to train at Mumbai Football Arena and would also play a couple of practice games between, September 26 to October 2,” informed Thackeray.
“The senior Indian team is also scheduled to train at the Mumbai Football Arena during the same period for the Macau game (Asian Cup qualifier),” Thackeray said. “The Indian team will train till October 8.”
Three-time champions, Brazil will play a practice game against New Zealand on September 28 with the match scheduled to kick-off at 5 pm.
New Zealand will then play a game against England on October 1 at 5.00pm.
Brazil is also expected to play another practice game against a local club, either Indian Navy of Air India from Mumbai or Pune City FC on September 30 at 8.00pm.
