Bohra CC defeat Bombay Gym


 

Bohra Cricket Club recorded a 3-wicket win against Bombay Gymkhana in a first round match of the 69th Nawab Salar Jung Open Invitation T20 Cricket Tournament, which is being organised by the Islam Gymkhana under the auspices of the Mumbai Cricket Association and played at the Islam Gymkhana ground.

 

Bombay Gym electing to bat first scored 136 for the loss of 5 wickets from their quota of 20 overs. Opener Harshad Singh and number 4 batsman Sufiyan Chouhan scored 31 and 30 runs respectively while Prashant Patil picked up 3 wickets for just 8 runs. Later, Bohra CC quite comfortably surpassed the winning target by scoring 137 for 7 wickets in 19.2 overs. They were well-served by number 3 bat Jahangir Chouhan who scored a  half century knock of 63 runs (38 balls) and middle order batsman Ritik Sharma who contributed 41 runs to help finish the match. Azim Dayatar (3/20) and Shubham Tadeolkar (2/27) managed to get the wickets but could not prevent Bohra CC from achieving the win and advancing to the quarter-finals.

 

Greater Mumbai Police SC also advanced to the quarter-finals by romping to a comfortable 7-wicket win against P.J. Hindu Gymkhana. Deciding to field first Mumbai Police restricted Hindu Gymkhana to 142 for 9 wickets in 20 overs. Nishad Gabawala (38 runs), Sujit Harvi (24) and Aaditya Mandhare (25) were responsible in providing some respectability to the Hindu Gym total. In reply Mumbai Police reached 143 for 3 wickets in 17.3 overs. Middle order batsmen Agni Chopra (46 not out) and Yasavi Jaiswal (28 not out) put together an unbeaten 51 runs partnership to help the Policemen cross the finish line.

 

In another match, Worli Sports Club defeated Muslims Sports Club  by 4 wickets to also progress to the last 8 round.

P.J. Hindu Gymkhana 142 for 9 wickets, 20 overs (Nishad Gabawala 38, Sujit Harvi 24, Aaditya Mandhare 25; Shahid Shaikh 2/25) lost to Greater Mumbai Police SC 143 for 3 wickets, 17.3 overs (Agni Chopra 46* 32balls, Yasavi Jaiswal 28* 19-balls) by 7 wickets.

 

Muslims Sports Club 119 all out, 18.1 overs (Aamir Shaikh 32; Dhaval Patel 3/16, Shadab Khan 2/14, Viraj Gamre 2/20) lost to Worli Sports Club 121 for 6 wickets, 17.3 overs (Viraj Gamre 29, Mairaj Khan 27*; Santosh Mahpure 4/22, Hasnain Khan 2/32) by 4 wickets.
