Matunga Gym 6-Red snooker report:
Sanjiv Bijlani of Park Club and Santosh Pawar of Khar Gymkhana both scored hard-fought 4-3 wins in their respective first round, best-of-7 frames, matches of the Matunga Gymkhana 6-Red Open Snooker Tournament 2018, sponsored and hosted by Matunga Gymkhana, under the auspices of BSAM and played at the gymkhana’s billiards hall.
Bijlani produced a tremendous fight back to overcome Rishi Sanghani of Juhu Vile Parle Gymkhana in a thrilling contest. Showing plenty of resilience Bijlani was on the brink of elimination as he was down 1-3, but he staged a solid recovery by winning the last three frames in succession to pull through winning at 27-43, 45-13, 2-35, 10-42, 35-5, 41-10 and 35-9 to scrape into the second round.
Meanwhile, Pawar also had to bring out his best to put ot across Rutuj Shah of Thane in a long drawn encounter. Pawar compiled a timely break of 36 in the sixth frame to level the frames scores at 3-all before winning the deciding seventh to clinch a hard-fought 23-9, 19-32, 21-34, 48-24, 15-42, 45-0 and 47-12 victory.
