Greater Mumbai Police Sports Club recorded a thumping 274 runs victory against Rashtriya Chemicals & Fertilisers (RCF) on the second day of their Times Shield ‘C’ Division second round league match played at the New Hind Sporting Club ground, Matunga on Wednesday.
Mumbai Police resuming at their overnight score of 310 for 4 wickets added a further 75 runs from the remaining nine overs to pile up a massive total of 385 for the loss of 7 wickets in 70 overs. .
Centurions opener Tanmay Mayekar 123 (259 min, 169 balls, 9×4,3×6) and Yash Chavan 131 (128 min, 108 balls, 15×4, 1×6) were responsible for the Policemen putting up such a huge score on the board. Mahesh Arkal scored 50 runs and Sudhakar Siddul scored 38 runs to make useful contributions. Suraj Patil with figures of 3 for 79 was the key bowler for TCF.
Chasing a daunting target of 386 runs for victory, Rashtriya Chemical & Fertilizers caved in rather meekly and were dismissed for a paltry 111 in 29.2Overs. Suraj Patil was the only bastman to score 29 runs. For the Mumbai Police the wickets were shared by Swapnil Gharat (4/31) and Yash Chavan (3/23) as they completed a satisfying victory.
