Services contenders Ajay Singh Bhadoria and Akhilesh Kumar Yadav in contrasting fashion won their respective men’s open qualification third round matches in the 75th CCI Western India Open 2018 squash championship, at CCI squash courts on Tuesday. The tournament is conducted under the under aegis of SRFI and MSRA.
Bhadoria worked hard to overcome Delhi’s Ashraf Hussain 11-2, 11-13, 11-7, 11-9, while had an easy time in defeating Maharashtra’s Vicky Gagat 11-7, 11-9, 11-7.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra talented 12-year-old youngster Yuvraj Wadhwani, who is playing in the higher under-15 category, produced a solid performance and dropped just two points as he tamed compatriot Zahaan Bafna winning in three quick game 11-1, 11-1, 11-0 in less than 15 minutes, in a boys’ under-15 qualification match of the CCI 10th Indian Junior Open 2018, which is being conducted concurrently.
In an interesting match a determined Akanksh Nair of AP got the better of Maharashtra’s Ranbir Minocha in five tough games at 7-11, 11-5, 3-11, 11-8 and 11-9.
In another match, Aamey Surana of West Bengal comfortably defeated Kshitig Seth of Maharashtra 11-4, 11-7, 11-4.
