The BengaI Club, Shivaji Park, Mumbai, will be hosting a two-day Inter-Schools (Boys Under-16) Football Tournament on their grounds on Saturday, September 9 and Sunday, September 10, 2017.
The Bengal Club, President, Tapan Das Gupta said, “The Bengal Club has a rich sporting culture, and that’s the reason for conducting this Inter-Schools event. We are determined to encourage and promote youngsters from playing football. Another purpose of organizing this event is in keeping with its glorious time-tested tradition of promoting a healthy Sporting Culture in Mumbai and its neighbourhood.”
Eight teams from prominent local schools will compete in the knockout matches to be held on September 9 to decide the semi-finalists. The semi-finals & the final will be held on Sunday, September 10. The final will be followed by an attractive exhibition match between two well-known teams — Karnataka Sports Association & Mumbai Strikers.
Deelip Bhattacharya, Secretary, Bengal Club Sports Academy, who is a former football player of repute having represented Western Railway has ensured that all the necessary arrangements are in place to ensure that the event if organized in a proper manner.
Handsome cash prizes, trophies and gifts will be presented to the winning and runners-up teams and also individual awards.
Bengal Club also has plans to organize a limited overs’ cricket tournament later this year & an athletics meet for its members in December 2017.
The participating schools: Utpal Sanghvi (Juhu), Sacred Heart (Santacruz), St. Paul’s (Dadar), S.M. Shetty International (Powai), Our Lady of Salvation (Dadar), Anjuman-I-Islam (CST), Seventh Day (Jacob Circle).
