It was indeed a great moment for India, as their two players were in semi finals at the World Badminton Championship at Scotland, ensuring two medals for their country. Though Saina lost in the semi finals, it was Sindhu who fought valiantly for the Gold , but had to settle for Silver.
It is for the first time that India has won two medals at the World badminton Championship and to celebrate this momentous occasion, Badminton Association of India and President Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced a cash prize of INR 10 Lakh to PV Sindhu and INR 5 Lakh to Saina Nehwal for her bronze medal winning feat.
Congratulating the players for their exceptional performance in the tournament, Dr. Sarma said, “I would like to congratulate both the girls for their great performance. It has been a great journey and I am sure the performance of the players will only get better from here.”
