Led by unseeded Avinash Yadav and eighth seed Tushar Shahani’s splendid run, Maharashtra players called the shots in most of the semifinals in the various age groups events in the 6th JSW –All India Sunil Verma Memorial Squash Open Tournament held at JSW Squash Courts, here today. Incidentally, both Avinash and Tushar, who belong to the hosts JSW Squash Academy, notched up constrasting wins. While Tushar outplayed Suraj Chand 11-2, 11-7, 11-7, Avinash was stretched to the hilt by Vivaan Jaikishan before he triumphed 11-7, 11-8, 5-11, 12-10. .

The girls under-19 singles too, will be an all-Maharashtra affair with Navmi Sharma upsetting the top seed Bhavna Goyal in straight games (11-8, 11-7, 11-1) and second seeded Mira Kamat overcoming Abhilasha Bhasin) 8-11, 5-11, 11-4, 11-9, 11-9 .
Two other boys, Deepak Mandal and Neel Joshi, who too are from the hosts academy, will fight it out for the under-17 title.The under-15 boys final too will see Mohit Bhatt and the second seeded Aakash Gupta fighting for the coveted title.
