Impressive Mulani steers Parsee Gym into 2nd round


Champions Parsee Gymkhana bowlers were disciplined lot and held their nerves to register a narrow victory over Dr. D.Y. Patil SA in the opening match of the RFS Talyarkhan Memorial Invitational T20 Cricket Tournament played under floodlights at the Bombay Gymkhana ground on Tuesday night.

Put into bat first, Parsee Gymkhana rustled up a score of 166 for seven and then their bowlers with a deermined showing restricted D.Y. Patil Sports Academy to 161 for 8. 

The eight team tournament will feature hosts Bombay Gymkhana Ltd, Cricket Club of India, D Y Patil Sports Academy, Islam Gymkhana, MCA Colts, Police Gymkhana, P J Hindu Gymkhana and Parsee Gymkhana with the final scheduled for April 22. 

Mumbai all-rounder Shams Mulani was the mainstay among the Parsee Gymkhana batsmen producing a fine knock of 78 which included three sixes and seven boundaries. Sagar Chhabria with an unbeaten effort of 38 runs provided the necessary support. Prince Badiani with 3 for 29 did the star turn for Patil Academy.

In their reply, despite a heroic effort of Aman Khan who scored 70 runs which comprised four sixes and eight boundaries, the other batsmen caved in against the bowlers Sylvester D’Souza, Sagar Jadhav, Zaid Patankar and Ayush Vartak who claimed two wickets apiece to bowl Parsee Gymkhana to a memorable win.

Brief scores: Parsee Gymkhana 166 for 7, 20 overs (Shams Mulani 78 (51-balls, 7×4,3×6), Sagar Chhabria 38; Prince Badiani 3/29, Umar Khan 2/21) beat Dr. D.Y. Patil SA 161 for 8, 20 overs (Aman Khan 70 (34-balls, 8×4,4×6); Sylvester D’Souza 3/20, Sagar Jadhav 2/27, Ayush Vartak 2/49, Zaid Patankar 2/21).

Result: Parsee Gymkhana won by 5 runs.


Determined Mafatlal SC emerge champions


In a heart-stopping thriller that went down to the wire, Mafatlal SC emerged champions securing a last-ball win over DTDC Sports Club in the final of the RCF T20 Cricket Tournament 2025 for the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Cup, organized by Rashtriya Chemicals & Fertilizers (RCF) Sports Club under the auspices of the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) and played at the RCF ground.

DTDC making first use of the RCF cricket pitch put on 203 for 7 but Dashrath Chavan with an unbeaten century of 103 runs saw Mafatal scrape home scoring 204 for 7 in their 20 overs.

Man of the Match Dashrath was singularly responsible for taking Mafatlal home with his heroic century which he got in 45 balls which included seven sixes and four boundaries.


Even as wickets fell at the other end at regular intervals, Dashrath stayed firm steering Mafatlal to a deserving win. Saurabh Singh with 38 runs provided the necessary support.
Earlier Gautam Waghela 62 (36-balls, 4×4,3×6), Omkar Ghule 57 (30-blls, 3×4,4×6) and Anish Choudhary 38 helped DTDC put up challenging total.

Anish Choudhary of DTDC was named the Best Batsman, right arm off-break bowler Kartik Mishra of Mafatlal got the best bowler award while Dashrath Chavan secured the best fielder award.

Skipper Jagdale steers Mafatlal into RCF final


Skipper Vishwajit Jagdale led from the front steering Mafatlal SC past Space SC with a facile 82-run victory into the final of the RCF T20 Cricket Tournament 2025 for the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Cup, organized by Rashtriya Chemicals & Fertilizers (RCF) Sports Club under the auspices of the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) and played at the RCF.

Southpaw Jagdale coming in the middle order was a man with a mission as he smashed an unbeaten 68 runs to help Mafatlal total 230 for six at the RCF cricket ground. Jagdale’s 38-ball knock included four sixes and five boundaries. Opening bat Kunal Nar 51 and Saurabh Singh’s 49 had provided momentum to the Mafatlal effort.

In response, Space were bowled out for 148 in 16.4 overs. Wily Sahil Phegade 4/16, Kartik Mishra 3/30 and  Ajay Mishra 2/41 were the bowlers who restricted Space to the modest total.

For Space Rohan Gajjar 56 and Aaditya Parab with 37 did the bulk of the scoring.

In the second semi-final, DTDC Sports Club defeated Viva Supermarket by 27 runs and to face Mafatlal in the final. Opener Vedant Murkar cracked an unbeaten century 113 runs (52-balls, 13×4,5×6), while his partner Anish Choudhary scored 81 runs to power their team to a huge total of 246 for 4 wickets from their 20 overs.

Later, DTDC restricted Viva Supermarket to 219 for 7 wickets to secure their win.

Chauhan propels Viva into semi-finals


Left-arm spinner Bhavesh Chauhan delivered the goods in grand style for Viva Supermarket propelling them into the semi-finals of the RCF T20 Cricket Tournament 2025 for the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Cup, organized by Rashtriya Chemicals & Fertilizers (RCF) Sports Club under the auspices of the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) and played at the RCF Colony ground in Chembur on Wednesday.

Chauhan’s deliveries brooked no answer from Automotive Manufacturers SC who were skittled  out for 80 runs in 11 overs. Chauhan’s impeccable bowling display saw him finish with a splendid haul of six wickets for 16 runs.  The lone batsman to offer a semblance of resistance was Jash Ganiga who scored 25 runs.

Earlier, Viva making first use of the RCF sports ground wicket scored 171 for 8 in their 20 overs. Captain Bharat Patil’s unbeaten 45 made from 21 balls included two sixes and five boundaries. Shreyas Gurav with 29, Saurabh Pawar contributed 23 and Ruturaj with 20 made meaningful contributions.

Hosts RCF go down fighting


Hosts RCF Sports Club went down fighting to Viva Supermarkets CC by four wickets in a first-round match of the RCF T20 Cricket Tournament 2025 for the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Cup, organized by Rashtriya Chemicals & Fertilizers (RCF) Sports Club under the auspices of the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) and played at the RCF Colony ground in Chembur on Thursday.

Batting first RCF Sports Club posted a low total of 143 for the loss of 9 wickets from their quota of 20 overs. Opening batsman Sagar Gupta top-scored with 70 runs (50-balls, 6×4,x6), while his partner Suraj Patil contributed 20 runs. Viva Supermarket CC spinner Parth Naik with his impressive bowling performance took 3 wickets for 16 runs.

Later, Viva Supermarket CC easily reached the target making 144 for 6 wickets in 15.3 overs. Jigar Rana 34 runs, Shreyas Gurav 30 runs, Ruturaj 24 runs, and Saurabh Pawar 24 runs ensured they sealed the win. Sachin Kakdekar 2 for 14, and Aary Gaikwad 2 for 30 tried to put up a fight.

Mumbai Police clinch thrilling 9-run victory 


Greater Mumbai Police SC ‘A’ put a determined performance to snatch a close 9-run victory against Jain Irrigation SC in a thrilling first round match of the RCF T20 Cricket Tournament 2025 for the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Cup, organized by Rashtriya Chemicals & Fertilizers (RCF) Sports Club under the auspices of the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) and played at the RCF Colony ground in Chembur on Wednesday.

Sent to bat, Greater Mumbai Police SC ‘A’ batted well to amass a total of 168 all out from their 20 overs. Captain and opening bat Sunil Patil top-scored with 49 runs (23-balls, 7×4,2×6). Tanish Meher 34 runs and Harsh Aghav 25 runs made useful contributions. Jain Irrigation bowlers Shubham Sharma 2 for 22, Shivram 2 for 25 and Amit Pandey 2 for 41 picked the wickets.

In response, Mumbai Police’s left-arm spinner Aryaraj Nikam’s inspired bowling spell of 3 for 23 runs restricted Jain Irrigation SC to 159 for 8 wickets from their quota of 20 overs and crashed out. Aditya Pabalkar 30 runs, Prateek Yadav 28 runs and Omkar Malekar 27 runs were the only batters to get some runs on the board. Aryaraj Nikam was named ‘Man of the Match’ and received his award from M. Ramesh, ED (Purchase), RCF.

Later, Mafatlal Sports Club defeated Mumbai Port Trust in the second match by 8 wickets. Batting first Mumbai Port Trust scored 152 for 8 wickets in 20 overs. Mafatlal SC comfortably achieved their target scoring 153 for the loss of just 2 wickets in 17.3 overs.

Champs RBI fall at first hurdle


Reigning champions Reserve Bank of India (RBI) crashed at the first hurdle as they suffered a 6-wicket defeat at the hands of Space Sports Club in a first round match of the RCF T20 Cricket Tournament 2025 for the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Cup, being organized by Rashtriya Chemicals & Fertilizers (RCF) Sports Club under the auspices of the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) and played at the RCF Colony ground in Chembur on Tuesday.

Sent in to bat, RBI were bowled out for 154 in 19.4 overs. RBI’s opening batsman Sumit Ghadigaonkar led the charge with a solid knock of 57 runs (31-balls, 5×4,3×6) and middle-order bat Ameya Dandekar played a good supporting role making 52 runs (32-balls, 4×4,4×6). But, their efforts went in vain. Space SC bowlers Vaibhav Mali 2 for 30, Rohan Gajjar 2 for 33 and  Vikas Singh 2 for 37 were responsible in picking the wickets.

Later, Space Sports Club easily chased the winning target making 155 for 4 wickets in 17.4 overs. Middle order bat Kushal Dawane scored an unbeaten 43 runs (31-balls, 4×4), Rohan Gajjar 39 runs (20-balls, 4×4,3×6) and lower-order bat Puneet Tripathi 32 not out (19-balls, 4×4,1×6) saw their team coast to victory and send RBI out. Jay Nayak claimed 3 for 19 was the only successful RBI bowler.

In the second match of the day, Accountant General (L&R) Sports Club post a 4-wicket win against Balabhai Nanavati Hospital SC. Batting first, Nanavati Hospital put a challenging total of 166 for 9 wickets in 20 overs and Accountant General in reply comfortably score 170 for 6 wickets in 19.1 overs.

Result: Accountant General won by 4 wickets.


Mumbai Police SC emerge champions


Mumbai Police SC ‘B’ riding on the brilliant bowling spell of medium-pacer Shreyas Pawar (5 for 17) managed to record a narrow 12-run victory against Union Bank of India and emerge champions of the Elite Group of the 14th Insurance Shield T20 cricket tournament, organized by Oriental Insurance Company and played at Cross Maidan.

The winning Mumbai Police receive the champions’ trophy from MCA President Ajinkya Naik. Also seen are MCA Hon. General Secretary Abhay Hadap, Joint Secretary Deepak Patil and other MCA Apex Council Members.

Choosing to bat first, Mumbai Police batting line-up found the going tough and only managed to post a score of 122 all out in 19.5 overs. Middle-order bat Hashim Sayyed was the top-scorer with 31 runs while Akash Malbari and opening batsman Tanmay Mayekar contributed 23 and 20 runs respectively to lift the innings. Union Bank bowlers Komal  Tandel 3 for 29, Tanay Khandeshi 2 for 0 from one overs and Gaurav Dhanwar 2 for 31 claimed the wickets.

Defending a low target the Mumbai Police bowlers rose to the challenge and restricted Union Bank of India to 110 all out in 18.5 overs to finish on a triumphant note. Roop Kumar Yadav played a good knock scoring 46 runs, while Adil Shaikh and Faizan Rabbani both an identical 22 runs. Shreyas Pawar with a good bowling effort ensured Mumbai Police record a win and become champions.

Brief scores (Elite Group): Mumbai Police SC ‘B’ 122 all out, 19.5 overs (Hashim Sayyed 31, Akash M. 23, Tanmay Mayekar 20; Komal  Tandel 3/29, Tanay Khandeshi 2/0, Gaurav Dhanwar 2/31) beat Union Bank of India 110 all out, 18.5 overs (Roop Kumar Yadav 46, Adil Shaikh 22, Faizan Rabbani 22; Shreyas Pawar 5/17). Result: Mumbai Police SC won by 12 runs.


Union Bank record easy 6-wicket victory


Tanay Khandeshi’s brilliant all-round performance two wickets for 30 runs and scoring an unbeaten 36 runs was the highlight of Union Bank of India’s fluent six-wicket victory against Automotive CC in a quarter-final match of the 14th Insurance Shield T20 cricket tournament, organized by Oriental Insurance Company and played at Cross Maidan on Tuesday.

Union Bank did well to restrict Automotive CC to a low total of 136 for 7 wickets from their quota of 20 overs. Chirag Vakil, Rupesh Singh and Nikhil Mandle all scored 22 runs each to lift the Automotive CC innings. Khandeshi’s teammate Deep Gaurav also claimed two wickets for 32 runs.

In reply, Union Bank comfortably chased down the target scoring 138 for the loss of just four wickets in 18.4 overs. Besides Khandeshi’s unbeaten knock the others who made good contributions with the bat was Roop Yadav 31 runs, Adil Shaikh 28 runs and Faizan Rabbani’s unbeaten 27 runs which saw coast to victory.

In the second match, Group Satellite CC defeated L&T Sports Club by a commanding 76 runs. Group Satellite’s opening bat Abhijeet Rohandiya top-scored with an unbeaten 91 runs and Faizan Khan added 71 runs to the team’s total of 198 for our wickets from their 20 overs.

L&T Sports Club struggled to score runs and their innings closed at 122 for six wickets. Akash Palande and Ameya Tiwramkar both scored 31 runs each.

Group Satellite CC 198 for 4, 20 overs (Abhijeet Rohandiya 91*, Faizan Khan 71; Rahul Joshi 3/14) beat L&T Sports Club 122 for 6, 20 overs (Akash Palande 31, Ameya Tiwramkar 31; Alok Singh 2/26). Result: Group Satellite CC won by 76 runs.


Divyanshi Bhowmick crowned Under-17 Girls Champ at WTT Berlin


India’s pride Divyanshi Bhowmick has been Crowned Under-17 Girls’ Singles Champion at WTT Berlin. According to her parents,  In this championship, Divyanshi  played with composure, intensity, and there was hunger to win. “This is a A massive step forward, but knowing her, she’s already thinking about the next challenge. This is just the beginning,” her parents reacted.

After hearing this good news, TT players and Divyanshi’s well wishers and her school authorities from Mumbai, are more than happy to see her progress.
