Number one seed Aryaa Ogale and second seed Anannya Morey took their appointed places in the girls’ under-17 finals of the Indian Squash Professional (ISP) organised Rs 80,000 prize-money JVPG-ISP Squash Challenge-League 2, being played at the Juhu Vile Parle Gymkhana courts. This event is the 117th tournament to be conducted by ISP.
In semi-final encounters, Aryaa had things very much under control and easily sidelined fourth seed Sunita Patel in straight games at 11-7, 11-6, 11-8 while Anannya also called the shots against third seed Bhavna Goyel to record a convincing 11-9, 11-9, 11-6 victory.
Meanwhile in the boys’ under-15 competition, top seed Suraj Chand had to fight back from the loss of the opening game to overcome third seed Avinash Yadav 6-11, 11-4, 11-3, 11-3 in a semi-final match. In the title round, Suraj will meet second seed Shlok Makhija who put it across unseeded Rahul Dharra in straight games at 11-0, 11-8, 11-7.
