Arya stars in Ryan Int.’s triumph


Arya  Shetty played a star role while helping Ryan International (Malad) beat  Rajhans 2-1 in the girls under-17 final of the DSO (Divisional Sports Office) All Mumbai (Taluka) inter-school under-17 badminton  tournament , organised by Vision Sports Reconnect and Fairplay Sports Management at Goregaon Sports Club here today.

Arya, who is being coached by former India Thomas Cuper Uday Pawar, first won her singles 21-14 against Ritika Paliath  after Rajhans took the opening singles with Sania Kapadia losing to Sakshi Shetty 21-8.  A pep talk by coach Uday Pawar before the all -important doubles, saw Arya, with  a novice Sania as per partner, covering the court all over to outsmart their rival pair of Sakshi Shetty and Gauri Dhote to clinch the doubles titles  and with that the under-17 title.

The Utpal Sanghavi boys from Juhu  bagged the corresponding title in the under-17 section with a 2-1 win over SM Shetty’sBunt Sangh.

Results of the finals:

(BOYS U-17): Uppal Sanghavi bt S.M.Shetty Bunt Sangh 2-1: Varun Nagdeo lost to Vikhyat Bangera 12-21; Aditya Desai bt Ameya Joshi 21-6 ; Varun/Aditya bt Vikhyat/Anshul  Rokade 21-17. (3rd Place): Udayachal bt Arya Vidyamandir (Juhu) 2-1.

(GIRLS U-17):Ryan Intl (Malad) bt Rajhans (Andheri) 2-1: Sania Kapadia lost to Sakshi Shetty 8-21; Arya Shetty bt Ritika Paliath 21-14; Arya/Sania bt Sakshi/Gauri Dhote 21-8. (3rd Place): AVM (Bandra) bt Ryan Intl. (Chembur) 2-1.
