Arya More shines again in Maharashtra’s win


Maintainingtheir impressive winning streak, Maharashtra (WIFA) produced another brilliant showing to record an authoritative 2-0 win against host Uttarakhand FA in a Group-II league match of the Hero 27th Senior Women’s National Football Championship 2022-23, played at the IGIS Complex, Haldwani, Uttarakhand.

The highlight of Maharashtra’s fourth successive win was the efforts of prolific goal-scorer Arya More, who scored early goals, one in each half, to seal the team’s success and qualify for the next phase of the competition.

Maharashtra started in rousing fashion and before the home side could settle down Arya capitalized on an easy opening to score the opening goal in the third minute.

Arya was once again on target as she fired home the second goal in the fourth minute on resumption to double Maharashtra’s lead and complete the winning margin.

The consistent striker Arya has now scored five goals in four matches. Maharashtra had earlier outplayed Mizoram winning 5-1, defeated Pondicherry 2-0 and then scored a stunning 1-0 win against Kerala.

In another match of the same group, Chandigarh FA blanked Kerala FA 3-0. Strikers Santosh 14th minute, Ritu 42nd minute and Disha 85th minute scored the goals in Chandigarh’s victory.

Maharashtra with 12 points from four matches is firmly placed at top of this group followed by Chandigarh who has eight points are in second position. They meet in the final group match on Saturday.
