Ariesa Mongia- sole record-breaker on 2nd day

Otter Club’s Ariesa Mongia rewrote 29 years old women’s 100m back stroke record to emerge as the best women’s swimmer in the  GAF-GMAAA senior and lower age group swimming meet, sponsored by Glenmark Aquatic Foundation and  held at Tata Power Swimming Pool, Chembur, today. Ariesa clocked 01:13.61 secs, thus bettering the almost three decades record of 01:14.40 secs set by  Persis Madon, of Wellingdon Sports Club. Though Ariesa ended with one gold and  one silver and aggregated 12 points, she pipped Kenisha Gupta (29 points), Khar Gymkhana’s Monique Gandhi Avantika Chavan with 28 points each, on the basis of her having set new meet record, which gets more weightage.
