A fantastic 5-star effort from Ankit Goud was the highlight of Central Bank of India’s thumping 7-4 win against Killedar XI in a high-scoring Second Division final of the MHAL League 2018-2019 and played at the MHAL-Mahindra Stadium, Churchgate.
The opportunistic scorer Ankit spearheaded the attack and scored five goals while teammate Satraj Alam chipped in with two goals to secure their win and emerge champions. Killedat XI put up a good fight but could not match the bankers. They were well-served by Shebaj Shaikh, Digvijay Kalse, Swapnil Patil, Amir Khan, all who scored a goal each.
Ankit’s struck the first goal from an indirect penalty corner in the ninth minute and then netted the other four goal through field efforts. Coincidentally except for the first goal, the remaining 10 goals were field goals.
MHAL President, Mangha Singh Bakshi and Hon. Gen. Secretary, Ram Singh Rathor presided over the prize distribution ceremony and presented the Second Division winners’ trophy and a cash prize of Rs 25,000 to Central Bank of India and the runners-up trophy and cash award of Rs 15,000 to Killedar XI.
