Paradise Warriors opened their campaign in style as they surprised CENSEO Smashers 3-2 in the 8-team 5th MCF-Badminton Premier League, at Mandpeshwar Civic Federation’s courts here last night. It was Ankit Kansara and Samant Singh who had to wage a tough battle in the decider after both the sides were locked at 2-all before they prevailed over Vishal Wagh and Mapno Pandurang 15-14, 15-14 to bring joy to their team with a narrow 3-2 win.

After Gaurav Shah gave them a flying start, beating Kathan Shah 15-9, 15-13 in the opening singles, the Paradise Warriors lost the way as they lost the next open doubles and the mixed doubles ties to trail 1-2 before their veteran pair of Satish Sharma and Trilok Sampat brought them back on the track with a fighting 15-13, 15-13 win over Bharat Soni and Kathan Shah to take the tie to the wire.
In other ties, Badminton Snippers routed SAI Shuttlers 4-1, and MBL Shuttlers overcame stiff resistance from Maverick Squad before prevailing by three matches to two.
